Hope Leadership Trust, firmly based in Tacoma, Washington, strongly believes that having financial independence is a main part of helping young people develop and thrive. We actively work to create real job opportunities and give young people the skills they need to have stable ways of earning a living, both right here in Washington and in other parts of the USA, including through our work in Kenya. Through these efforts, we aim to significantly lower the number of young people who are jobless or don’t have enough work, fostering economic stability and self-reliance for young individuals and their families.

Our way of creating youth jobs is many-sided and involves a lot of close teamwork. In Washington, we partner with vocational training centers, local businesses, and community groups to figure out what skills are most needed in the current job market. Then, we provide specific skills training in high-demand areas such as digital marketing, artisan crafts, renewable energy solutions, and modern agricultural practices. We also offer practical entrepreneurship workshops that guide young people through making a solid business plan, managing money wisely, and figuring out how to reach their customers effectively. Our focus here in the USA involves connecting youth with valuable internships, apprenticeships, and entry-level positions in growing industries, actively leveraging our networks to bridge the gap between talented young people and available opportunities. We provide personalized mentorship from industry professionals, hands-on help with writing impressive resumes, practical interview coaching, and ongoing career guidance. We also speak up for policies that support youth employment and create a good environment for young business owners to succeed. Our programs are designed to be responsive to local economic conditions, ensuring that the skills learned directly lead to real jobs or help them successfully start their own businesses. We want to see youth become active contributors to their local economies, driving new ideas and growth. Our goal is to empower them to escape cycles of poverty, pursue their aspirations, and become financially independent. By creating these clear pathways to employment, we’re not just giving jobs; we’re building confidence, fostering dignity, and enabling young people to invest in their own futures and contribute meaningfully to the prosperity of their communities, both here in Tacoma and across the globe.
