Faith Syengo was born and raised in Kenya. At 20, she came to the United States as a permanent resident, carrying big dreams and very little else. She arrived alone — no parents, no relatives, no one who knew her name.
She was still learning how everything worked: the culture, the systems, even how to find her way with GPS. Barely a month after she landed, on a cold winter morning at about 6:00 a.m., her host family asked her to leave their home.

In an instant, Faith was homeless in a country she barely knew. She had no car, no job, no way to communicate to people back home, and nowhere to go.
Standing in that cold morning, she made herself a promise,  one day, she would
become the beacon of hope she needed right then — the helping hand, the guide,
the community that would make sure no newcomer ever felt as alone as she did.
Faith rebuilt her life step by step, building a career in healthcare and community advocacy.

Along the way, she met family after family facing what she had faced: unstable housing, financial strain, isolation, and services that did not understand their culture or speak their language. She saw people arriving with remarkable talent and determination, held back only by the lack of support around them.

In October 2023, she kept her promise. Hope Leadership Trust was founded that month and formally incorporated in January 2024.
